BigCommerce and SAP Business One integration: 3 routes compared
BigCommerce is an API-first SaaS platform with REST management APIs and webhooks – technically a clean integration target for SAP Business One. But there is no first-party connector from either side. Integrations run over one of three routes, and which one fits depends far less on the order flow than on a single question: how much of your B1 pricing has to reach the store.
Five data flows between BigCommerce and SAP B1
Connector, iPaaS, or custom build – strengths and limits
| Route | Strengths | Limits | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Third-party connector | Fast to switch on; proven for the standard flow (orders in, inventory and tracking out) | Only the fields and processes it was built for; Special Prices, approval workflows and other B2B specifics need customization; tied to two release cycles | B2C stores with little custom logic |
| iPaaS platform | Flexible field mapping; templates for BigCommerce and B1 exist; one platform can also serve other integrations | Recurring platform fees per flow; B1 pricing logic still has to be modeled by hand; an extra system to operate and monitor | Teams already running an iPaaS for other flows |
| Custom service (Service Layer) | Exactly your processes; BigCommerce webhooks + B1 Service Layer are both solid, documented APIs | You own the build, hosting, monitoring and every upgrade on both sides – a development project, not a purchase | Requirements no connector covers; in-house dev team |
Where BigCommerce–B1 integrations actually fail: pricing
SAP Business One pricing is layered: Price Lists, period and volume discounts, and Business-Partner-specific Special Prices on top. BigCommerce B2B Edition brings company accounts and price lists of its own – but someone has to flatten the B1 logic per customer, write it across, and keep it current. Before committing to any route, get written answers to three questions:
The fourth route: a storefront that lives in SAP B1
If the store is a B2B channel, there is an alternative to syncing pricing into BigCommerce at all: a storefront with a native SAP B1 adapter. The CS Order Suite reads customer-specific pricing, inventory and items straight from SAP Business One and posts Sales Orders back – no flattening, no second pricing system to keep in sync.
Selling B2C on BigCommerce and only need orders and inventory in B1? A connector is usually the faster path – keep it. We fit when the store is a B2B channel: contract pricing, verified dealer accounts, quick reorder, punchout, and SAP Business One as system of record. Both can run side by side against the same B1 company.
